Duke of Edinburgh volunteers
Clifton High School has received certificates in recognition of the hours of volunteering its pupils have completed in their local community. 2016/2017 = 962 hours: 2017/2018 = 663 hours.: 2018/2019 = 572 hours
Pupils at the School are given the opportunity to follow a Bronze Duke of Edinburgh Award programme from Year 9 and a Gold Duke of Edinburgh Award from their 16th birthday. As part of this programme, they are required to volunteer and give up their time to make a difference to other peoples lives, working with charities or not-for-profit organisations.
Places where they have worked include Riding for the Disabled, Bristol Zoological Gardens, St Peter's Hospice, Help the Aged and Cancer Research charity shops, church youth groups, Rainbows and Beaver Scouts, Primary School clubs. They have also helped in the community by caring for disabled children, visiting the elderly and joining the St John's Ambulance Service.
