UK Geographical Skills Challenge

A Geographical Skills Challenge featuring a number of universities and commercial geographical companies setting challenges to 14 teams of 4 students each.

Aims

To engage students in geography, promote its study at university and highlight its context in the commercial world.

Background

An inspirational, new, Head of Geography at Birkenhead School.

Resources

Location and staffing, including use of Sixth Form Geographers, provided by Birkenhead School. Resources for the challenges provided by either Birkenhead School or the companies running the challenges (Lancaster University, Sheffield University, Liverpool University, Digimap, Prdnance Survey, RSPSoc).

Impact

An increase in individual students' geographical skills and an appreciation of their commercial relevance.
