The Joint Schools Concert

Christ Church Primary School and Clifton College Preparatory School were delighted to host The Joint Schools Concert, on Tuesday 8th March, with performances from children in Years 3, 4, 5 and 6 from both Schools. The children practiced together in the weeks running up to the event, developing both friendships and musical skills. They showcased their teamwork and talents by performing some of their favourite pop songs from the likes of Take That, Taylor Swift and many more at the concert.

Aims

The aim of the concert was to create stronger links between the two schools, whilst encouraging pupils to engage with Music and develop friendships. Schools, staff, parents and pupils benefited from the Joint Concert.

Background

The concert was set up by Chirst Church Primary's Headmistress, Mrs Clare Jones and Clifton College Preparatory School Headmaster, Mr John Milne with the aim of developing stronger links between the schools. Alice Brereton, Angela Kewly, David Pafford and Louise Mooreman were key members of staff involved with the organisation of both the practices and concert itself.

Resources

The practices were held in both schools main Halls and the concert took place in the Clifton College chapel.

The Music teachers and band were required for the both the rehearsals and evening of the concert. Both Angela Kewley and Anna Louise Moorman put a number of hours into planning and rehearsals with their choirs.

On the day of the concert and dress rehearsal the Christ church pupils also stayed for supper and had some time in the Clifton College Houses, making new friends and meeting the staff.

Pupil Involvement

We had 50 Yr 3-6 pupils join with 42 Yr 4-6 Clifton College pupils for both practices and the concert itself. The pupils enjoyed picking their solos and practicing the joint songs together.

Frequency

We hope to run this event again in the future, perhaps every two years.
