Sustainability Outreach
At Wychwood School, we have developed a programme of events entitled 'Wychwood Inspires at your School'. This builds on the success of our Inspires Saturday's work. As part of that we offer bespoke sessions developing the theme of sustainability. Three sessions were delivered to classes of Year Five and Six pupils, based on the theme 'Enough for Everyone' - they explored issues of food, water and energy.
Aims
The aims of the day were to promote sustainability and to give the pupils some possible solutions to real world issues. The lack of a subject specialist was identified and as such our Head of Geography delivered the sessions.
The beneficiaries of the day were the 100 Year Five and Six pupils who attended the morning.
Background
We developed a series of outreach sessions, 'Wychwood Inspires at your School', building upon the success of our 'Wychwood Inspires, Saturday's' programme.
Our Head of Outreach and Partnerships, Philip Humphreys, met with local primary school headteachers, to launch this idea, and as such was contacted by the Head of Year 5 / 6, at William Fletcher Primary School. We have been working with them for this academic year.
