STARS@STAHS
This was a key event in the partnership calendar. It was a spectacular evening of science, including stargazing in an inflatable planetarium, extracting DNA from fruit and solving crimes.
Aims
To bring STEM to life for a range of Year 5 pupils from six local primary schools, providing them with interactive and interesting real-life science sessions.
Background
STAHS works on a regular basis with a number of local and partner primary schools. Through this one-off evening the school wanted to provide pupils with an experience that they typically wouldn’t be able to get, to illustrate how exciting and interesting science is.
Resources
The event took place in school, involving several teaching staff from across the school.
Impact
100 pupils from our six primary partner schools – four in Luton, one in Harpenden and one in St Albans – joined us for an evening of star-gazing in our planetarium and crime-solving in our labs.
Pupil Involvement
A range of Y11 and Y12 pupils were involved in setting up and running the event, providing leadership opportunities.
