NHS Brighton Together Hub
Our Pre-prep school was temporarily transformed into a Brighton Together NHS Hub, whereby staff from the nearby hospitals could find respite in the form of a lounge with tea/coffee, and can also pick up care packages (all from donations from either pupils, parents, staff or local businesses.)
Background
This partnership was brought about through consultation with key NHS managers and Senior Leadership at Brighton College, who were responding to pupil and parental request to help the NHS during the height of the pandemic response.
Resources
The entire Pre-prep school site was transformed into the NHS Hub, with a cafe and a care package collection and drop off point. It was managed by a team of support staff from Brighton College alongside pupil and parent volunteers. The Hub ran for almost 3 months and was nominated for a Community Hero award from the Mayor of Brighton
Impact
The Brighton Together NHS Hub gave out up to 500 packs per day, with over 100 volunteers from our community helping. We also raised over £4500 for NHS charities through the Hubs activities.
Pupil Involvement
All pupils and parents donated, and over 100 volunteered to run the Hub.
