Mandarin Sessions with Local Primary schools
Four local primary schools were collected to come to Bethany School to participate in Mandarin lessons for ten weeks. Buses were organised to collect the children from the four locations.
Aims
The aim was for the year 5 students from each school to visit every Tuesday after school to learn the basics of the Mandarin language.
Children were exposed to a language that is not frequently covered at Primary level.
Background
A staff member who works within the Marketing and admissions Team spoke with the schools in question and arranged this.
Resources
These sessions were held in the language classroom and used the special brushes for writing the Mandarin alphabet.
There was no charge for these sessions.
Impact
The children really enjoyed these fun and interesting lessons covering the Chinese Zodiac - how to write their names in Mandarin and the correct way to pronounce words in this difficult language.
Pupil Involvement
Year 5 boys and girls.
Frequency
This was a one off but we hope to offer similar sessions again.
