Key Stage 3 Maths Workshop
Freemen's School hosted a Maths workshop in January titled 'Solving the KS3 Problem'.
Organised by The Society of Heads in association with Oxford University Press, the Maths Workshop is part of the Oxford Expert Speaker Programme. The programme brings the best known experts in education to events across the UK to share new ways of thinking about teaching and learning.
The Maths session was aimed at Secondary Maths Teachers and Heads of Department for Maths.
Aims
The Society of Heads, in association with Oxford University Press, organise the Oxford Expert Speaker Programme, which involves experts in education sharing new ways of thinking about teaching and learning.
The workshop was followed by a networking session to enable the sharing of best practice between the 17 schools who attended.
Resources
The workshop and networking session took place in the music recital hall.
There was no charge to the schools who attended.
Impact
Attendees concluded at the end of the day that it had been extremely worthwhile, in terms of learning new ways of teaching, as well as sharing ideas with other schools.
One person travelled from a school in Luxembourg specifically to attend, and felt it had been a good use of their time!
Pupil Involvement
The day focussed on teaching maths to key stage 3 boys and girls.
Frequency
Freemen's has hosted workshops in the past, as part of the Oxford Expert Speaker Programme, and will continue to do so on an annual basis.
