Annual Sixth Form Geography Conference for Staff and Pupils
The conference lasts an afternoon each year and involves two major speakers from the world of geography; previous speakers have included Prof. Pete Langdon from Southampton University, Prof. Andrew Goudie from Oxford University, former BBC lead weather presenter Helen Young and former Director General of the Office for National Statistics, Stephen Penneck.
These major lectures are accompanied by a more interactive workshop; these have focussed on university entrance advice with admissions tutors from leading universities, and examination advice from examiners. The contribution the Freemen’s geography department makes to the wider community was recognised by the Geographical Association, who awarded the department with the prestigious “Centre of Excellence” status in 2015.
