Inter School Quiz

An interactive general knowledge Inter-School Quiz for Year 4/5 pupils in a number of local primary schools

Aims

To provide opportunities for primary aged pupils to extend their general knowledge in a fun and interactive (and competitive) quiz

Background

This project was initiated by two teachers at AGC. It was designed to maximise the use of the College’s Theatre space which provides seating for all the audience and an atmospheric venue for the quiz. Hopefully the pupils leave having learnt some facts that they didn’t know previously and enjoyed an evening of gentle competition.

Resources

The event is held in the College’s Theatre, with refreshments being served in Room15/Drama Studio. Expertise from amongst the AGC teaching staff is used to provide the questions and the College’s quizmaster has a real interest in producing quizzes having appeared on University Challenge. Pupils from AGC help to run the event and Catering and Site Team support contribute to the successful running of the event.

Impact

The quiz continues to be well received. We have had requests from schools following the event if they can be invited in subsequent years

Pupil Involvement

Up to 10 schools, including those from our Junior school bring a mixed team of 5 or 6 Year 4/5 pupils to participate.

Frequency

The event occurs annually.
