College staff holding positions of office in local schools and other educational establishments.
Staff and Governors freely give up their time in a number of local schools within their communities to foster links and to exchange ideas and expertise.
Aims
For staff to use their expertise in providing classroom support and aiding the successful running of schools (including work as a governor or within the PTA).
Background
Staff are able to use their considerable expertise to provide strategic leadership and to share good practice. By having a diverse range of voices on governing bodies and in PTA’s, schools are able to reflect the communities they serve. Staff share ideas between AGC and the schools they serve which is mutually beneficial to both. These projects have been initiated by individual staff.
Resources
The one resource is the willingness of staff to give up their time to provide support, help and expertise.
Currently 2 governors serve on the boards of other schools; 8 teaching/non-teaching staff are active in local schools either as a parent helper, governor or with fund-raising efforts as part of the PTA.
Impact
Staff will develop new skills and simultaneously give back to their local community and the sharing of ideas and fostering of community spirit is beneficial to all.
Pupil Involvement
No students are involved in these projects as they are led and undertaken by staff and governors.
Frequency
Activities are on-going and are dictated by the time required by the individual educational institution.
