Ibstock Primary Schools Music Events

Ibstock's Director of Music led a singing workshop for ~ 50 year 5 pupils at local primary schools (Roehampton Church School, Sheen Mount Primary School, Heathmere Primary School) where they learnt a new repertoire of songs from Mary Poppins. The carried out the workshop alongside ~20 Ibstock year 7 pupils.

In addition, prep pupils from Ibstock and local schools (Heathmere and Alton Primaries) experienced professional musicians perform classical music whilst narration and live illustrations were happening at the same time.

Aims

To build relationships with these schools and bring the expertise of Ibstock's music department to a wider range of pupils.

Resources

Ibstock provided:
- Staff time (Ibstock Director of Music leading rehearsals, staff overseeing the day)
- Venue (Great Hall for performance, rehearsal spaces)
- Refreshments (snack for participants)

Impact

Primary/prep pupils gained choral experience and confidence, Ibstock pupils developed mentoring skills, parents/carers enjoyed a community performance.
