French partnership with Lycée Henri Sylvoz, Gabon

The French department have formed a partnership with Lycée Henri Sylvoz - a French school in Gabon.

The Head of Department has organised and hosted fortnightly sessions involving students from Years 8-13 and students at the school in Gabon.

Sessions range from presentations, quizzes, debates, pen-pal exchanges, and Q&A sessions, and provide the opportunity for Queen’s students to converse in French and the French students to strengthen their English.

Aims

To share resources, knowledge and develop new friendships.

To develop the language skills of all students.

To further enhance their understanding of the culture of the partner school students.

The Virtual Boardroom to host the sessions.

One Teacher from each school.

Impact

This virtual exchanges enable students from both schools to gain an insight into the language and culture of their counterparts, thus broadening their international horizon and improving their language skills.

Pupil Involvement

Queen’s students in Years 8-13 regularly take part in sessions throughout the academic year, along with the same aged students from the school in Gabon.

Frequency

Sessions run across year groups every couple of weeks.
