Abbots Leigh Residential Home
Every week, Redmaids' High School's Sixth Form students visit the Abbots Leigh Residential Home to spend quality time with the residents and participate in various activities together. These include one-to-one chats, solving crossword puzzles, singing, reading, gardening, and crafting sessions.
Aims
This volunteering develops a positive connection between students and the wider community, allowing them to learn about the needs of the local residents.
The students can learn life skills such as communication, empathy and problem-solving. It provides exposure to real-life responsibilities and challenges and it helps them feel more connected to their community.
