Impact Statement
Oakwood is developing partnership arrangements with a group of 5 local state primary schools and the Headteacher is hosting a lunch for local primary school Headteacher's in February 2019. The key links to be developed further will be curriculum-based and sporting, although Oakwood has hosted in the past year a number of events and activities to look local state primary schools have been invited.We are also developing stronger links with a local academy school, Bishop Luffa, to where many of our children go at age 11. The newly-appointed Headmaster at Bishop Luffa has recently visited Oakwood and discussions around developing self-confidence and resilience amongst pupils is being discussed.
We are currently sponsoring one of our staff to achieve her PGCE teacher training qualification, working with the Schools Alliance and Chichester University. The PGCE qualification will be completed in 2018/19 and the trainee teacher is undertaking a 7 week teaching practice at a state primary school in Bognor Regis.
Our Headteacher is also hosting a lunch for local nursery leaders in order to develop stronger links.
The school swimming school is hired out to Chichester Swim School, who provide swim training to 500 children each week, mostly from local state schools and pre-schools.
