Impact of partnership work done in 2025 (ISC annual Census 2026)
Impact Statement
Primary schools sports day. Local primaries are invited for a day of participation and coaching, using our facilities. A number accept every year, receiving introductions to sports that they little facility and provision, like hockey.
West Buckland organises many of the local age group competitions, eg rugby 7s, cross country. Secondary state schools come to compete on our relatively dry and extensive pitches.
One of our staff members organises the local Sunday cross country league. This takes place at three other venues, but we host two of the legs, including the final. Several hundred pupils from all over North Devon represent clubs and schools in this league. It is likely the league would fold without the time and dedication of this member of staff. They would also struggle to find replacement facilities.
We have entered into a loose partnership with two local secondaries to help raise aspirations in the state schools, and generally benefit the gifted and talented in all three schools. There have been joint music, art and design events, and events involving visiting speakers at West Buckland have been opened to these two schools. We also have anti-bullying ambassador training at West Buckland this term which is open to other schools in the area.
