Wealden Hub - Oxbridge Mentoring/Information Evening

Benenden School Careers Department offer both an information evening and follow up mentoring opportunities to a range of schools in the local area.  

Aims

To provide support, access and opportunity for pupils in Kent and East Sussex to information about Oxbridge applications.

Background

This is a long running initiative and runs alongside regular partnership events run by the Careers Department at Benenden School

Resources

A venue is provided and administration of both the event and mentoring programme.  For those maintained school students Benenden Partnerships cover the cost of external coaching. 

Impact

For the information evening 100 external partnership schools attended in 21/3/2022. Following this 2 students have then received 10 hours of mentoring, including the provision of an external Oxbridge preparation course. We hope to have more of an uptake in partnership school attendance.

Pupil Involvement

6th Form and 100 involved in the information evening and a further 2 who have received weekly mentoring from Benenden staff and provision of an external interview preparation course.
