Wealden Hub - Careers Convention

This is long running biannual event for schools in the West Kent and East Sussex region, facilitated at Benenden School.

Aims

To provide a venue for universities and potential employers to meet 6th Formers within the local region.

In terms of success we aim for in the region of 350-400 external students to attend the event.

Background

The Careers Convention has grown over time and is an important part of Benenden School's Sixth Form programme. The ability to open up this event to external schools has been the case for many years and offers the universities and employers who attend, a wide audience within the West Kent and East Sussex region.

Resources

Benenden School provide all the administration, including providing the venue, inviting schools, organising for a range of universities and employers to attend and on occasion providing transport in order for as many students as possible to attend the convention.

Staff are provided by the Benenden Careers Department and on the day additional staff assist in a variety of tasks.

Impact

The primary indicator of benefit is the amount of students who attend and the feedback from the event.  We aim at between 350 to 400 external pupils attending and will be following up the next convention with a feedback form to gather data on levels of engagement and testimonial statements.

Pupil Involvement

This is a 6th Form event from a mixed range of schools.

Frequency

This event happens on a biannual basis and will be continuing with the next Convention scheduled for 2024.
