Sixth Form Business Studies Conference

A full one-day conference featuring three noted external speakers

Aims

The aim of the conference was to inspire the business leaders of tomorrow through a series of interactive workshops, targeted lectures and group activities.  Participants were encouraged to work as teams and individually on a range of projects linked to their studies, to add academic enrichment to their curriculum.

Background

The Head of Business Studies at The Leys worked collaboratively with his counterpart at St Peter's School when they identified similar needs within their respective student bodies. The conference was born out of shared ideas and is hoped this will become an annual event.

Resources

The Leys made use of its links with current parents to source speakers, all highly successful entrepreneurs, as well as a number of the school's own staff.  The school's Great Hall was provided at no cost along with the required AV, IT and catering facilities.

Impact

Feedback on the event has been sought and will be assessed shortly.

Pupil Involvement

A mixed group of 33 Year 12 and 13 pupils from both schools participated in the conference.

Frequency

It is planned that this event will evolve into an annual conference, potentially adding a summer conference to the programme in time.
