Having Fun with Mr Shakespeare

Director of performance Drama at The Leys visits local state primary schools with her Romeo and Juliet workshop.

Aims

The aim of the project is to engage Y6 pupils with drama at an early age, to give them confidence and the opportunity to experience a whole new way of enjoying Shakespeare.

Background

The workshop was developed 2 year ago, initially inviting schools to come to The Leys. It was then rolled out across a number of local primary schools enabling more schools to take part.

Resources

The teacher is delighted to give her time and experience freely to allow children to explore the work of Shakespeare.

Pupil Involvement

This workshop is designed for boys and girls in Y6 but Y5 pupils have also benefitted from the experience.  

Frequency

The workshop takes place up to 4 times a year and more are available as schools become part of the initiative.
