Serving Others

From the Pre-Prep to the Senior School, our students are exposed to a wide range of charitable activities that help them develop valuable skills and make a positive impact on the world.

Many Year 13 students serve the community by volunteering once a week in local primary schools, charities and charity shops.

Our younger students participate in a variety of events throughout the year, such as cake sales, Christmas jumper exchanges and shoe drives.

Each Senior School house has a charity rep who work tirelessly to organise and motivate their peers. Our students take part in events such as sleep out for DENS and Berkhamsted Fun Run providing them with challenging yet rewarding experiences.

Sixth formers also take part in events such as Movember appeal and "Comfy Clothes for Charity days".

Aims

To benefit the local community whilst at the same time teaching our own students the importance and value of participating in events for the good of others, creating a sense of community and providing mutual support to one another.

Resources

More than 90 students participate in weekly volunteering placements and these numbers continue to grow.

Money has been raised for charities such as Make-A-Wish UK and YoungMinds by the hosting of events such as a Talent Show, Funkathon and a Murder Mystery dinner. Numerous other events held by pupils (such as mufti day, Santa Run and sponsored sleep out) have raised funds for Teenage Cancer Trust, Children in Need and DENS (a local charity dedicated to rebuilding lives).

Impact

Particpation in charitable activities allows our students to develop empathy and soft skills, which are essential for building character and meaningful experiences with the wider community. By giving back to those in need, our students not only make a positive impact on the world but also become compassionate and responsible individuals.
