Aims

Introducing Year 10 to community service and charitable venture; developing leadership and team-working skills.

Organisation in advance (decorations, dance & music rehearsals, invitations created and sent, gifts donated) and uniting on the day to deliver an entertaining afternoon.

All guests and students involved are beneficiaries.

Background

Annual event delivered by Year 10

Staff are keen to  pursue more charitable events and community service opportunities.

Resources

Mufti day raises money to purchase food, drink, materials for decorations; theatre is required venue; kitchen to assist with catering; requires form tutors to positively promote the event; requires proactive and dedicated Year 10 volunteers to help lead their peers and manage jobs. Planning commences in January and the event is held in March. Our head of year oversees the event, on the day supervision is required from a small team of staff.

Impact

Guests often write than you notes and praise students upon departure (this is an event they love attending); many students like to see the guests enjoying themselves and recognize the value in what they are doing.

Pupil Involvement

Year 10.

Frequency

Single event, occurs annually in March to continue indefinitely.
