London Academy of Music and Art leaders

A partnership with a local secondary school to mentor and support their pupils through their first year of LAMDA lessons and examinations.

This group of Oratory pupils have volunteered on a weekly basis, throughout the academic year at Langtree school, under the supervision of Mrs Byrne, to coach and mentor students in LAMDA examinations.

Our LAMDA Leaders have developed their own leadership skills, directing skills and prepared a group of 10 students for an Acting examination in July. We are immensely proud of their commitment, responsibility and involvement in this wonderful community partnership. Their contribution has been key in building the relationship between our schools.

Aims

After identifying that the local secondary school was about to embark on LAMDA lessons for the first time, a partnership to mentor and support their pupils was formed.

Background

Our Head of Drama identified that the local secondary school hadn't done LAMDA lessons and examinations before so forged a partnership with their Head of Drama to mentor and support their pupils through their first year.

Resources

The Oratory Head of Drama and Oratory pupils.

Pupils went off site to the local secondary school so no Oratory facilities were used for this partnership.

Impact

Pupils from the secondary school will be assessed for their examination in the summer term (July).

Pupil Involvement

Four Oratory pupils from our 6th Form were involved weekly. Both boys and girls.

Frequency

Our Head of Drama and Oratory pupils attended weekly sessions at the secondary school. Our aim is for this to become a long-standing partnership and discussions are already in place for the next academic year.
