British Science Week Lecture
Each year, during British Science Week, we welcome over 100 local primary school pupils and staff to an interactive lecture. In recent years, we have covered 'The Secret Life of Scent', 'Bee Buzziness', and Renewable Fuels.
The event is hosted in the Hilaire Belloc Theatre by our Science Department. We have also taken the lecture out to individual schools with large year groups.
Aims
To support primary school provision during British Science Week through remote or on-site annual lecture/activity.
Background
This event has been running for many years and is now part of local schools annual events calendar. The partnership was first brought forward by the Science Department with support from Marketing and our Assistant Head (Co-Curricular & Outreach).
Resources
The lecture was hosted by Oratory staff in our Theatre with refreshments provided. Minibuses are also offered to participants at no cost. For schools with large year groups (60 children), we can take the lecture to them.
Pupil Involvement
Pupils from the 6th Form are invited to help teachers with this event and engage with the children.
Frequency
This lecture is an annual event.
