Language links with Holy Trinity Primary School

Bury Grammar School (BGS) and Holy Trinity Primary School in Bury have come together to partner in a pilot scheme to raise the profile of languages in the primary school.

Initially it will comprise of teachers teaching one off language lessons in the primary school to celebrate the diversity of both schools' communities and to encourage a love of language learning.

The teaching will be supported by pupils from BGS who will lead some of the activities with the primary pupils.

The partnership will then be reviewed and developed based on the needs and requirements of both schools.

 

Aims

The aims are to raise the profile of languages in the primary school and celebrate the diversity of backgrounds in both schools.

 

To boost the skills, confidence and self-esteem of all pupils taking part.

Background

Holy Trinity Primary School belongs to an academy trust which also contains other schools which are in partnership with Bury Grammar School

Resources

It uses the time of the BGS teachers and requires a small amount of paper resources.

Frequency

This will be run initially as an annual event to coincide with the International Day of Mother Languages but will be reviewed and the frequency increased if deemed successful.
