Cameron House care home visits
A group of up to 10 sixth form pupils visit the Cameron House care home in Bury each week in term time to organise and lead activities with residents.
The students require DBS and therefore some planning and preparation time was required before the scheme was ready for students to start their placements.
Students gain many different life and leadership skills and the residents enjoy the company and activities that the students provide.
Aims
From the school's POV it enables students to gain experience in a care environment and develop personal and leadership skills.
It provides the residents with company, friendship and an alternative to other activities on offer.
Background
In Sept 2024 the Head of Parnterships emailed the care home and ask whether it was something that would be beneficial and of interest.
The DBS certificates and the admin surrounding them took about 4-5 weeks so pupils were able to begin the placement in November 2024.
Resources
As the carehome is local to the school, there are very little resources other than students' time required.
Pupil Involvement
Sixth form pupils.
Frequency
Weekly in term time.
