Food and Nutrition with Ashurst Primary
Shoreham College hosts an annual workshop in food technology and nutrition with Ashurst Primary School.
Aims
The aim of the workshop is to give a local primary school access to cooking facilities at Shoreham College.
The need was identified in partnership with Ashurst Primary, over 10 years ago.
Critical factors: enabling the primary school to expose its pupils to a successful, confidence building learning experience in food technology.
The primary headteachers, staff and pupils have been very pleased with academic outcomes.
Background
It came about as a discussion between Shoreham College and Ashurst senior leaders.
It has been in place for over a decade.

Shoreham College's food technology suite is key.
The workshop experience is run by Shoreham's Head of food technology.
Shoreham College funds the venture.
Impact
The head teacher of the primary feeds back to us, after each event, reporting the hugely positive experience that the pupils have.
The workshop is excellent for the pupils' confidence and spirit of adventure.

The pupils are in Year 5 & 6.

The event takes place one a year: March - June.
