Impact Statement

Key Stage 1 Choral Festival – This is an event that takes place in March each year. The St Andrew’s Pre Prep Choir invite several schools to come and join us for an afternoon of choral fun and games. The Director of Music sends out the sheet music and audio tracks for the songs we will be singing. The office staff organise the administration of the event and provide all materials, venue and squash & biscuits for the children. The office staff organise the administration of the event and provide all materials, venue and squash & biscuits for the children. In 2018 3 local state schools attended with two independent schools. The schools all wrote and thanked us for the event and we received a number of ‘Thank you’ cards made by the children attending.

Music Outreach Programme- Our Director of Music organised and set up a programme starting in 2016 to incorporate music into the curriculum. This involves setting up a meeting with each school to explain the programme and then attending their INSET to show teaching staff how to achieve this. Each INSET takes nearly two hours and we create and provide all resources. This has now been done at 6 local state schools and has benefitted over 500 children plus the staff. The programme involves at least 4 hours per month of Director of Music time. We have a new Director of Music and she is actively pursuing the continuation of this initiative

African drumming workshops at a local primary school (Bisley C of E). Our Director of Music conducted 2x half hour African Drumming workshops to their Year 1 pupils. These were very successful and we received a number of ‘Thank you’ cards from the pupils- one child advised that he liked it so much he had asked for an African drum for Christmas.

We will be continuing this programme and hope to extend this to other specialist subject areas.
Under 9 Inter-schools 6 a side Football Tournament- We have set up and hosted this annual tournament with 6 (in 2018) local state primary schools since 2016. This is a 2 ½ hour event for 9 children per team, benefitting 54 state school pupils. We provide the staffing, administration and the trophy, medals, certificates and tea for all the children and their parents attending. The office staff and Marketing Manager gave their time to set the event up and co-ordinate teams with the Sports staff.

Under 9 Inter-schools Netball Tournament – We have set up and hosted the first of an annual tournament in 2017 with 5 local state primary schools. We provide the staffing, administration and the trophy, medals, certificates and tea for all the children and their parents attending. The office staff and Marketing Manager gave their time to set the event up and co-ordinate teams with the Sports staff.

We also perform music in local care homes, donate food and other items to the Salvation Army and to a homeless charity.
