Use of Salisbury Cathedral School Grounds

Salisbury Cathedral School is blessed to enjoy 27 acres of beautiful grounds right in the heart of the medieval city of Salisbury. We pride ourselves on sharing this good fortune by providing regular access to our campus to local schools, community groups and charities.

Our neighbour, Bishops Wordsworth school, uses the Astroturf pitches for hockey practise. And, Salisbury based South Wilts Cricket club trains its junior girls’ team on our grass cricket pitches. We also invite local primary schools to use Salisbury Cathedral School grounds for an annual open-air musical performed to an audience comprised of parents and friends from within their own school communities. During school holidays, a local charity representing vulnerable people often hosts private picnics within the safety of our grounds. Furthermore, we invite other local charities to approach us with ideas of how we can offer support to their endeavours.

Aims

Salisbury Cathedral School aims to support local schools, sports clubs and charities to enhance their activities by using the school's extensive city centre grounds.

Resources

The school provides use of its grounds for free and covers the costs of the upkeep of the grounds including relevant sports pitches.

Impact

Access to Salisbury Cathedral School facilities allows Bishops Wordsworth's School to improve its hockey provision.

South Wilts cricket club has been enabled to provide its girls' team with a proper grass pitch for training.

Local primary schools can improve access to the arts by hosting a joint annual open-air music festival in the centre of Salisbury.

A local charity has been enabled to host private picnics in a central safe space every summer for vulnerable citizens in its care.

Pupil Involvement

The access to Salisbury Cathedral School grounds supports primary and secondary pupils of both genders from in and around Salisbury.

Frequency

The use of Salisbury Cathedral School grounds is an ongoing partnership with numerous local schools and a charity. We are open to further requests from organisations within our community.
