Dangerous Things
We launched s hugely popular ‘Dangerous Things (you should let your child do)’ event. We opened our grounds twice, once for prep aged children and secondly for Pre-Prep aged children, for brilliant bush craft community events designed to encourage children to take a step out of their comfort zone.
The children delighted in mud-pie making, de-constructing electrical appliances, slack line walking, den building, creating campfires, whittling and chemical reactions.
Pupils at Salisbury Cathedral School share the event with families from in and around Salisbury, taking in pride in opening their school and its grounds to the local community.
Aims
Salisbury Cathedral School aims to promote self confidence and independence amongst the children participating at its 'Dangerous Things (you should let your child do)' events.
The events are designed to challenge the assumption that all learning takes place in a classroom.
For the event to be successful parents in attendance have to let their children step forward and participate in the activities provided independently.
This event is designed to benefit all participants and their friends and family who they can share the experience and ideas with.
Background
Salisbury Cathedral School teachers identified a need for children to be challenged outside of the classroom.
