Sharing sport facilities with local youth groups

Throughout the school year, several youth clubs are granted free-of-charge access to our floodlit astropitch, cricket ground, sports hall and sports fields.

Astro pitch

The astro pitch was floodlit in 2017. Since then, many youth clubs have used the facilities, with teams ranging from Under-7s to Under-17s. In the 2018-19 year, more than 22 teams split over four football clubs used our facilities on a weekly basis. We want to support local youth football clubs through the provision of facilities for evening training.

Pangbourne gives free use of the astro pitch and (in winter) evening floodlights. In the past few years, teams from Pangbourne, Whitchurch-on-Thames, Purley and Theale have used the astro on different weeknights. Training for each club is weekly, so the astro is in use most weeknights. This is an ongoing commitment

Cricket ground, sports hall and sports fields

Several Youth Clubs use the facilities, whilst others use both the facilities plus coaching expertise from Pangbourne staff. The community and youth sports clubs feature many teenage pupils from local schools. The aim is to support these groups through the provision of facilities and coaches.

Currently, two local community cricket teams use the cricket pavilion and ground during their season. Five different local organisations use the indoor sports hall for evening training. Additionally, Berkshire Rugby youth teams use the rugby pitches for training, and two members of the Pangbourne College teaching staff are regular coaches.
