SENCO Network Meeting

Hosting and facilitation of Worcestershire South (WCC) SENCO network meeting:

Updates on special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) at local and national levels from WCC SEN Advisory Service: including SEN Governor guidance document from DfE; MELO, a new mental health and wellbeing service available to CYP 0-25yrs in Worcestershire; Alternative Provision guidance document from DfE; updated LA Guidance documents on part-time timetables, IHCP's and flexi-schooling.

Aims

Facilitate the Worcestershire South SENCO meeting in a centralised location allowing maximum number of people to attend.

45+ SENCO delegates from maintained primaries, secondaries and specialist settings.

15+ representatives from Worcestershire County Council specialist teams, e.g., SEN caseworkers, Complex Communication Needs Team, Learning Support Team, Educational Psychology Team.

Background

Relationship developed between the SENCO lead at King's Hawford and Worcestershire County Council SEN team to enable meetings to be facilitated.

Provide valuable updates on SEN at local and national levels from WCC SEN Advisory Service: including SEN Governor guidance document from DfE; MELO, a new mental health and wellbeing service available to CYP 0-25yrs in Worcestershire; Alternative Provision guidance document from DfE; updated LA Guidance documents on part-time timetables, IHCP's and flexi-schooling.

Important opportunities to network and discuss immediate difficulties with SEN provision and seeking solutions from sharing best practice.

Resources

School facilities provided in the use of a large meeting space, parking and catering. SENCO lead from King's Hawford.

Pupil Involvement

No pupil involvement in the event but the number of pupils supported by those in attendance will be over 1,000.

Frequency

One off but will look to continue to develop the relationship.
