Paxton Primary School - Building a Library for Today (and Tomorrow)

In 2023, our School Library team worked with Paxton Primary School to set up, stock, staff, support and sustain a new library.

This was in response to Paxton’s 2022 OFSTED inspection, in which a pressing need was identified to improve students reading fluency and confidence.

How we help:

-          56 days of FHS staff support annually managing the school library and coordinating team of 14 parent volunteers.

-           FHS chartered librarian has trained several educators within the Paxton network over 8 free workshops.

Impact

We have received wonderful feedback from Paxton pupils, with a Year 2 pupil saying, "I feel happy in the library and I love that some of the books are so funny. Some of the books I have been looking for a really long time and they are here! I like that."

Frequency

Our vision is for Paxton to have a self-managed and sustainable library space for use in years to come and for Paxton to become a hub for library development within the Gypsy Hill Federation.
