Curious Club - Stretch and Challenge (Chelsea Academy)

As part of the Stretch and Challenge Provision at Francis Holland School, the most able girls in Years 7-9 are invited to a series of special seminars that deal with a variety of subjects. Gifted and Talented Chelsea Academy pupils have been invited to attend sessions starting in January 2019.

Aims

The aims of the partnership are to expose students from both schools to further stretch and challenge opportunities. In particular, pushing the most able students to explore and investigate complex ideas in an environment that is more rigorous than their typical classroom.

Background

This partnership is part of our wider work with Chelsea Academy.

Resources

This programme relies on the coordination of the respective staff with responsibility for Stretch and Challenge in Years 7 and 8. It takes place on the Francis Holland School site using teaching staff after school hours as part of their regular co-curricular commitment. There is no financial contribution beyond provision of cookies and juice by the school.

Pupil Involvement

Boys and Girls from Y7 and Y8 are identified at both schools that would most benefit from the programme and, following a guided induction, are to make their way to FHS independently. FHS and CA staff liaise regularly to ensure student needs are accounted for. Pupils are selected for their ability to navigate this independently.

Frequency

This activity takes place fortnightly for one hour. It will continue throughout the school year.
