Outreach Classics Project

Sixth Form pupils were trained in school in presenting Classical studies to state primary school pupils. They then took the project to St George's school on Wednesday afternoons as part of their enrichment activity programme

Aims

To offer the opportunity for year 6 pupils to experience the study of Classics.

The project was identified as part of discussion with the Headteacher about stretch and challenge opportunities.

The success of the project was dependent on the commitment of the Year 12 pupils involved.

The Year 6 pupils enjoyed the opportunity and the Sixth form were bale to develop their skills of organisation and communicaton.

Background

The partnership came about through discussion between headteachers it has been established for 3 years.

Resources

Teaching staff oversee the project but the teaching is carried out by students. The students travel to St George`s School. There are three pupils involved per term.

Impact

The project is evaluated at the end of each cycle.

Pupil Involvement

Pupils from EHS are female sixth form students

Pupils from the state primary school are in Year 6 and of mixed gender. ITT students also formed part of the group.
