Musical in a Day

Members of staff and students from the Music and Performance Arts faculties at BMS work with students from Bedford Academy on a project called 'Musical in a Day'. Together they create a short-length musical over the duration of one day and perform it that evening to parents, friends and staff. Recent productions have included Aladdin and Matilda.

BMS student musicians form the band and staff experienced in staging musicals, including a musical director, run the workshops which take place in advance as well as the final performance.

Aims

It gives the students at Bedford Academy the chance to work on staging the script, blocking the acting, learning dance routines and learning the songs, as well as benefitting from all of the transferable skills that involvement in such a project offers such as communication, teamwork and collaboration.

It also provides students with an opportunity to be part of a musical performance.
