Creative Art Classes in Local Schools
BMS Art Department work with local schools to deliver a programme of creative art workshops. Most recently, as part of the Friday afternoon enrichment slot, Year 13 students and Head of Art, have been leading a ceramic workshop for Year 4 students at King’s Oak Primary School. Over the course of the Autumn term, all students in the Year group have made and glazed a pot that celebrates the impact of Roman ceramics on the pottery of this country.
More than one hundred students produced their own individual piece of work and learnt about the use of slip, and under and over glazes.
Aims
To introduce students to different types of creative art such as screen printing, ceramics and even animation.
To provide access to facilities and materials which the schools wouldn’t ordinarily have such as a kiln and glazes.
To help develop creative skills.
Resources
Student and staff time and expertise, materials and use of specialist equipment and facilities where necessary.
Frequency
Visits are made to a different school each term. Next term we will at Kempston Challenger Academy followed by Wootton Lower School in the summer term.
