Music partnership with Woodlands School

A music-focused collaboration between pupils from Woodlands school and St Margaret's with an aim for pupils with profound learning difficulties to experience a music concert and then work with sixth formers from St Margaret's to experiment with a range of sounds made from different musical instruments.

Aims

The primary aim of the concert is to provide children with profound learning difficulties from Woodlands SEN school with a therapeutic and enjoyable musical experience in a safe and inclusive environment. By hosting a professional pianist and allowing the children to make noise and move freely, the concert aims to create a space where they can benefit from the therapeutic impact of music. Additionally, involving Sixth Form prefects fosters a mutually beneficial relationship as they interact with the children, playing with them and engaging in activities.

Background

The initiative was developed to provide children with profound learning difficulties from Woodlands SEN school with a unique and therapeutic musical experience.
