St Margaret’s school is committed to providing outreach opportunities and carrying out partnership work with regional, national and international organisations. This academic year St Margaret’s has hosted a STEAM event, puppet workshop, football festival, netball tournament and a County cross-country event, all aimed at junior school students. For older students in local schools we have hosted careers talks, and are planning a large dance workshop. We are hosting students from a Special Educational Needs school for a relaxed music service and have teamed with an education foundation abroad. The Parikrma Foundation to create a collaborative art project and sustainable future partnership. This will form a protocol for similar projects in other schools abroad.
Additionally, our students have gone out to a local primary school as part of the Minimus project, teaching Latin in state junior schools, and the school will be offering tennis coaching training to teachers from other local schools. We have visited a residential home to sing and play the piano and hosted residents for tea from two local care homes. The school has hosted football and netball tournaments for local primary schools. Children from St Margaret’s performed with pupils from two local junior schools as part of a local festival of music.
Furthermore, we have formed partnerships with local charities this year; Hand on Heart, Comfort Cases and SUFRA. The summer service day will see the students involved in volunteering work across Hertfordshire and further afield beach cleaning in Southend-on-Sea. The School continues to make available the pool in our Sports Centre to the local primary school free of charge and will look at creating opportunities for our new dance space to be used by the wider community. The school grounds were the site for the Hertfordshire County Cross-Country event. Our staff are actively encouraged to undertake voluntary activities during the school year.
The school is a member of the Schools Partnership Alliance. The school offers staff the chance to do a day of service of their choice as part of their CPD.
