Music Day with pupils from 10 local schools

Bloxham held a Music Day in March 2020 which saw 75 pupils from 10 local primary and prep schools visit Bloxham for a terrific day of music making.

The children experienced an energetic morning of workshops catering for an impressive variety of instruments including: bassoon, piano, violin, cello, clarinet, flute, saxophone, guitar, recorder, drums, cornet, ukulele and keyboards. The Music Day was led by Bloxham's Director of Music, and supported by visiting music teachers and Bloxham’s music scholars.

Following the workshops, everyone came together and were conducted by Bloxham's Choir Master to rehearse the Coldplay classic ‘Fix You’.

A concert, including ensemble and choral pieces, was performed to over 150 family members in Bloxham’s Great Hall.

Aims

The aim of Bloxham’s Music Day was to bring together talented local musicians to enjoy a day of workshops and performances.

The children took part in engaging workshops led by experienced music tutors, tailored to suit the children’s instruments and abilities. They learnt a range of techniques and had the chance to try out new skills in peer group practice.

Resources

Three teaching staff from Bloxham’s Music Department were involved throughout the day. Bloxham paid for the visiting music teachers for the day.

The Great Hall, music practice rooms and Chapel were used during the day for practicing and performing. Music and refreshments were provided by the school. Children brought their own instruments.
