English As a Foreign Language

Ludgrove identified that when primary school pupils are approaching English as a foreign language it is difficult for them to progress at the same rate as their peers in class. It can also have a detrimental effect on their confidence and eagerness to participate and develop new skills. By helping these children improve their language skills at an early age it will prepare them for life inside and outside of the school and the challenges of transition to senior school.

Aims

To enable children with little or no understanding of the English language to develop skills to help them understand and engage with subject, activities, teachers and their peers. It also helps them to build confidence in their comprehension inside and outside of the school, ensuring that the curriculum is accessible to everyone.

Background

Through Ludgrove's discussion with the teaching staff at the two primary schools.

Resources

Ludgrove School enables one of its teaching staff to have the time and resources to go into the two primary schools and teach pupils.
