STEM Careers Fair
Hampton School runs a STEM Careers Fair, in conjunction with The Ogden Trust, for Year 10 pupils. Aspiring scientists hear from experts in the Science, Tech, Engineering and Maths industries about their own career pathways, as well as sharing expertise and advice.
Aims
To provide opportunities for pupils to hear from specialists about careers in the areas of Science, Tech, Engineering and Maths.
Background
The Ogden Trust aims to increase the uptake of physics post-16 by supporting physics education and engagement for all young people (4-18), particularly those in under-represented groups.
Hampton School is part of the London West partnership and meet regularly to discuss best practice and plan opportunities to enhance science teaching, particularly physics, across partner schools. The other schools in the partnership are state secondary schools mainly from the local area. The aim of this event is to enable Y10 pupils to hear about a variety of STEM careers and to have the opportunity to ask questions of people working in that field. We are hoping that by targeting Y10 pupils they will be inspired to choose science A levels.
