GCSE Classics Twilight Project
This project has been running for the last five years and aims to offer keen pupils from our partnership schools the opportunity to learn Latin to a high level. Lessons take place weekly after school, and have proved very popular with boys and girls from several of our local maintained secondary schools. Pupils sit a national examination (WJEC Level 2 Latin Language Certificate) at the end of the course. The schools involved are Hampton High, Waldegrave School and Orleans Park.
The aims of the Independent State School partnership is to share expertise and to offer pupils a chance to excel in a variety of subjects.
Latin is no longer taught in most maintained schools and Hampton offered this opportunity to our local partner schools. The first set of examinations was taken in July 2016 with strong results.
Hour-long lessons are held at Hampton School on a weekly basis. The lessons are run by classics teachers from Hampton School and the resources are funded by the School
Pupils take a national examination (WJEC Level 2 Latin Language Certificate) at the conclusion of the three-year course.
Pupils are between 12 and 15 years old and both boys and girls are involved from our local maintained secondary schools.
This is a weekly activity.
