SSPP (St Peter & Paul) PF Scouts
Prior's Field School are operating this Scouts troop under the umbrella of SS Peter and Paul who have their base at the bottom of Charterhouse Hill in Godalming.
Aims
The purpose of Scouting describes, in one sentence, what we are trying to do: Scouting exists to actively engage and support young people in their personal development, empowering them to make a positive contribution to society.
Background
It was an idea to encourage students, especially the younger ones, to have non-competitive interactions with students from other schools. It started in March 2019.
Resources
The troop meets in a multipurpose room at PF and use different parts of the school to complete different badges, i.e the library, the woods and the food tech kitchen.
Prior's Field staff are asked to volunteer a specific skill to help with different badges. The troop recently had an evening in the science lab, completing the Scientist Badge. They will soon be starting the DIY badge with the help of the Prior's Field maintenance team and go out on a night hike with another member of staff.
Impact
Since the beginning, there have been a total of 22 scouts and 1 young leader who has now become anĀ assistant.
Pupil Involvement
Since September 2022 the group has been growing steadily and there are now 9 scouts, 5 boys and 4 girls.
The majority of our scouts are in Year 6 of primary school, 2 are Year 7 from PF and 1 Year 8.
5 boys and 4 girls currently.
Frequency
The troop meets Wednesdays from 18:45 till 20:45, 2hrs.
