Samba Workshops
What might 500 Samba drums sound like and how would Brazilian rainforest animals be incorporated into a Samba procession?
With the help of a workshop leader from 'Beat Goes on' and Ipswich School's Director of Music, children attempted to recreate the Brazilian carnival sound with an amazing cacophony of samba beats and sounds. The workshops were held for three local primary schools.
Resources
The workshops were held at Ipswich School, led by a visiting workshop leader from 'Beat Goes On' and Ipswich School's Director of Music.
Our own Samba school included Surdo drums, agogo bells, Samba tambourims, shakers and frame drums.
Impact
Children learnt the various signals used by the Samba leader to develop different sections to our performance - as well as the all important STOP signal.
Pupil Involvement
The children involved in the workshops were in KS2 - Year 3.
