Science Experience Day - More than 20 local primary schools (including many state schools) were invited to nominate Y5 pupils to attend (at no cost) a Science Experience Day which was held at Ipswich School. Y5 pupils carried out numerous hands-on practical tasks under the supervision of Ipswich School staff.
Maths Competition - For the last 3 years, we have held a Maths Competition for the local State Primary Schools. Around 14 schools take part, each entering a team of 4 students. The competition lasts all day and is hugely enjoyed by the students as the questions are challenging but also fun.
Latin GCSE - We offer free Latin teaching to GCSE level for up to 15 state school pupils. Lessons take place weekly and students have been very successful in their GCSE outcomes.
Sports (Cricket) - The newly formed Ipswich School Cricket Academy is now open to both Ipswich School and outside of school boys and girls to book into (this is charged). We have run an annual U13 and U15 Girls Cricket Tournament at Rushmere for the past three years (no charge)
Sports (Rugby) - We run for ten local state schools and enter two Ipswich School teams for a local schools U13 rugby festival during the Michaelmas term and a U12 rugby festival during the Lent Term. We also let Ipswich Rugby Club use our sports centre, Rushmere for junior and senior teams to train on our all-weather pitches. U12, U13, U14, U15 and the senior teams use this facility
Music (Ipswich School festival of Music) - Primary School workshops and concerts open free of charge to local primary schools. This year over 200 local primary school pupils attended a concert by the Alex Mendham Band free of charge in our concert hall - October 2018
Music (Community Service) - music students visit other local schools to give music performances (eg We will be visiting St Matthew's Primary School Ipswich to give a concert on Thursday 7th February). Ipswich School Saxophone Ensemble performed at a Charity Harvest event at Copdock Church. CS music students visit care homes to give performances - eg we visited Norwood house and gave a Christmas Concert in December 2018. Age Concern brought along invited guests to the Prep Christmas Concert in December 2018
Music – Instruments are lent to local schools and Churches - eg: Copdock Primary School borrowed some of our Xylophones for a 'Mars' performance at the Snape School Proms. Burlington Road Church borrowed our Timps for their Christmas Concert - Dec 2018. Britten Faculty of Music is hired by some groups for rehearsals and event - This February half term there is a week of Jazz masterclasses.
Music (Summer Strings (paid event)) - Summer Music Course open to all local string players. We have lots of pupils attending from local schools.
