Donation of defibrillator

By the end of the Michaelmas term, Ipswich Prep raised £1,922 to purchase a lifesaving defibrillator for a local primary school - in support of The Oliver King Foundation.

Background

Our Charity of the Year is The Oliver King Foundation.

The Oliver King Foundation was established in memory of Oliver King - a 12-year old boy who, whilst winning a swimming race in a PE lesson, tragically suffered a sudden cardiac arrest due to a condition known as Sudden Arrhythmic Death Syndrome (SADS).

This condition kills 12 young people under the age of 35 every single week in the UK. Sadly, there was no defibrillator on hand, and for every minute that passed, Oliver's chances of survival dropped significantly.

It is the aim of The Oliver King Foundation to ensure every school in the UK has access to a defibrillator, and at Ipswich Prep we want to help as many school as possible have access to this lifesaving equipment.

Thanks to the generosity of the Ipswich Prep community, we raised £1,922 through various fundraising such as our luxury Christmas hamper raffle.
