Public Speaking and Debating

This workshop offers pupils strategies to improve their oracy and public speaking through the medium of British Parliamentary style debating. Pupils are encouraged to discuss and share ideas about contemporary issues and receive guidance on how to perfect their arguments for debate speeches. Students write and deliver speeches, learn how to develop stage presence and protect their voices, and they all receive constructive feedback on how to improve. 

Background

This is a relatively new workshop, which we introduced in 2019. It has proved to be very popular, not only due to the voice projection coaching from our staff, but also as a result of the input of our talented Sixth Form debaters.
