Joint Choir
Girls and boys from St Luke's join up with our choir each week.
Aims
Choirs are a great example of the whole being greater than the sum of its parts. We invited St Luke's to begin working with us and now the joint choir sings every week, often performing for local organistions such as a a retirement home.
Background
It began with a pupil from St Luke's joining our orchestra. From this, we found that there was an opportunity here for more musical joint ventures.
It began in 2017 and every year gets bigger and more ambitious.
Resources
We meet at St Margaret's once per week. TAs from St Luke's bring the girls, who are managed by our music teachers (who also run the session).
Impact
Membership of the choir continues to blossom suggesting it is working well.
It results in friendships, a shared understanding of the power of a choir, and also is professionally developing for our own staff.
Pupil Involvement
Year 5/6, mixed girls and boys, with slightly more pupils from St Luke's than St Margaret's.
Frequency
Weekly, 1 hour (for longer and more regularly when approaching a concert), and will continue indefinitely.
