Impact of partnership work done in 2018 (ISC annual Census 2019)

  • 15 state schools involved
  • 500+ state school pupils involved
  • 529 staff hours given

Impact Statement

During the year we have provided opportunities for over 300 local school children to take part in specialist Music days at Rendcomb. In several cases the schools who attended are too small to have specialist musical staff so these events are vital in allowing access to a creative curriculum.

Throughout the year we have provided the means for our local primary school to have hot lunches available. We do this through providing the time and staff to prepare meals each day which are then delivered to the nearby school. This provision has been an ongoing one for many years and has enabled the receiving school to offer meals in the most cost-effective way as we charge only the raw cost of ingredients and nothing else.

We undertook the complete transformation of a garden area at a local school, providing an outdoor learning experience for their pupils. The head of the school commented how fortunate they were to have a school such as Rendcomb that was willing and able to invest the time and resources into doing this work for their children.

We have provided both accommodation and teaching for a group of A level students from a London school to undertake required practical elements of their Biology curriculum, coupled with intensive revision sessions. This enabled the students to work alongside our students and gain valuable practical and fieldwork skills on our estate.

We have provided a venue for local schools to undertake an orienteering competition, something which would be unavailable without the grounds we have. This has allowed children who might otherwise not engage in sporting activities to come and join in for a whole morning of outdoor physical education.

A number of Scholarships (Academic, Art, Music, Drama and Sport) are awarded each year at 11+, 13+ and 16+. Scholarships are based on the assessment of a pupil’s potential and the value that we believe they will add to the life of our school. We also award the Noel Wills Scholarship and the Rendcomb Scholarship at 11+. Pupils joining Year 3 in September 2018, are eligible to apply for a 7+ Scholarship.

All awards are reassessed annually and are subject to satisfactory academic progress and behaviour. All cases are judged on their own merits and applicants should submit any additional evidence, as required, along with their Scholarship application form no later than the published date.

The number of individual Scholarships awarded each year depends solely on the calibre of the candidates. There is no limit to the number of Scholarships the school awards; Rendcomb looks for a level of excellence in order to award a Scholarship.

All candidates who apply to attend Rendcomb College Senior School at 11+ and 13+ are entitled to apply for one or more Scholarships. Candidates who are applying for Sixth Form may only apply for one Scholarship.

Scholarships are applied for during the 7+, 11+, 13+ and Sixth Form entry process, with Scholarships becoming relevant when the pupil begins Year 3, Year 7, Year 9 or Year 12 respectively.
